All Good Things Must Come To An End...but not without food and drink!

Day Three....

A rough night of sleep (or lack there of) had us up early and heading out for a walk on the island. The path around the island is approximately eight miles. We thought that three miles might be a good start to our day and it was...BEAUTIFUL. The water was dazzling in the sunshine and the climb to Arch Rock was both invigorating and exhausting! Addie amazed us with her knowledge of rock formations and for that first hour it seemed as if we had the island to ourselves.

We decided to partake in the breakfast buffet (as vouchers for it came with our room)...and once again, we were kind of dubious. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited...looking for a server to guide us...an angel of a woman, got up and told us we looked as confused as she had and to just hit the buffet...so we did! AND it was WELL WORTH it!! When you visit the Mission Point Resort, be sure to enjoy the breakfast buffet. We all went back for seconds and honestly believe that this was one of the best breakfasts we had ever had in our lives. It was the energy we needed to make our way to town to purchase caramel corn and fudge before loading the ferry for the ride back to the mainland.

Before island departure, Shannon and Hilary had a mission to obtain fudge. How can you go to the "fudge capital of the world" (our name for it) and not get fudge? By the way, when you read that there are fudge shops every three doors it is not an exaggeration. Ryba's fudge advertised that they were voted best several years in a row plus they had the best smelling stores. We loaded up on sweets and set for the ferry.

We had sent our luggage over to the ferry prior to sitting down for breakfast (very good move), and despite the line seeming endless we were able to load on the trip we had hoped. Our mid-level seats gave us a great vantage of the island as we departed. It was at this moment that the three of us realized how truly great this adventure had been for our souls!

To break up the trip we decided to try to find a tasty place for lunch. We needed a break from the drive (about 6 hours for us)...and we needed to stretch our legs and REFUEL!! Hilary used a Three Broads favorite...Yelp...to come up with this little

gem HopCat in Grand Rapids. It was a gorgeous day so we parked and walked a couple blocks - the real treat was sitting outside. Looking around made us think that it might be nice to live in a college town and be able to enjoy the cultural advantages of what the city provides. If you go here, you MUST try the crack fries. They were amazing.

Addie and Hilary purchased a couple of growlers full of HopCat brew. Then we were ready for the final leg home. It was a wonderful mini-break before our final week of school. Be sure to check out our top 10 most memorable things from our trip. We would also love to hear from you on Facebook about your favorites from any of the locations we visited.
